Limitations and any prerequisites that and required to perform the processes Ì Detail any relevant CATSettings where applicable. Ì Describe the Rules.Introduction ƒ The purpose of this method is to: Ì Provide best practices for Viewing FTA information embedded in CATIA V4 model files. Ì Provide best practises for creating 2D generative drafting views using FTA information embedded in CATIA V4 model files. In this case. migrated data can be invalid. Version 4 data will be pasted to this existing annotation set. or split the Version 4 model in several Version 4 models. the Version 4 standard will be used. In the case of several Version 4 annotation sets within a Version 4 model. If there is no existing annotation set in Version 5. a Version 5 Functional Tolerancing & Annotation license is required. Version 4 Tolerancing data is migrated for parts only. containing each a single annotation set. a new annotation set will be created. You should paste the Version 4 annotation set at the level of the product containing the geometry. Version 4 Functional Dimensioning & Tolerancing windows are migrated as Version 5 captures 5 . and sometimes.FTA Migration Key Points ƒ ƒ ƒ ƒ ƒ ƒ ƒ ƒ Migration is performed using a Copy-Paste operation. make sure that the parent standard is the same in Version 4 as in Version 5. otherwise the copy will not be performed. Either FTA DT1 or FT1 Not all Version 4 data can be migrated to Version 5. In this case. If an annotation set already exists in Version 5. you will either need to merge FD&T data within a single Version 5 annotation set. not for assemblies. To migrate Version 4 Functional Dimensioning & Tolerancing data to Version 5. except chamfer and thread diameter Dimensions TolNOA NOA View Capture 6 . Under View/Annotation Plane nodes Defines that 3D annotations should be displayed under the view/annotation plane nodes in the specification tree. Under Annotations Set node Defines that 3D annotations should be displayed under the annotation set node in the specification tree. By default. this option is not selected. this option is selected. 9 . available only if Under View/Annotation Plane nodes is selected.2 of 4 (3D Annotation Infrastructure) ANNOTATIONS IN SPECIFICATION TREE Defines the annotations in specification tree options: Under Geometric Feature nodes Defines that 3D annotations should be displayed under the geometric feature nodes in the specification tree. By default. By default. This lets you view 3D annotations under the Part Design or Generative Shape Design feature nodes to which they are applied. this option is not selected. This lets you view 3D annotations under the view node to which they are linked.CATSettings . Generate red cross on annotation Select this option if you want red cross mark to be displayed for any annotation or dimension with a leader linked to hidden geometry (i. • By default. this option is not selected. • By default. ƒ 2D dress-up modifications are kept when updating design changes from 3D. Generate 2D geometry Select this option if you want to generate 2D geometry (i.CATSettings . this option is selected. 3D geometry which is not visible in a 2D view) when generating view from 3D ((Functional Tolerancing and Annotation workbench). 11 . wireframe and 2D points) when generating a view from 3D from a layout view (2D Layout for 3D Design workbench). this option is selected. ƒ Associativity between annotations is taken into account.e. Create a New CATProduct.1 of 3 This Scenario outlines the process to view FTA data with an FTA license 1.Viewing V4 FTA information in CATIAV5 . e. Note: You cannot use the exact string. When prompted enter the part number of the V4 model you are about to view. Insert the Existing V4 FTA Model into the Product by Right clicking on the Product – Components Existing Component – Browse and select the model 12 .g if the V4 model has a part number of “WG1509-0113-101-Support” you could use “WG1509-0113-101” in the product part number field but you cannot use “WG1509-0113-101-Support” 2. Select the “Product Functional Tolerancing & Annotation” Workbench from the Start menu. START – MECHANICAL DESIGN .….2 of 3 3.Viewing V4 FTA information in CATIAV5 .. 13 . Select “Enable All” and OK The Annotation becomes Visible 14 .3 of 3 4. Select the “3D Visualization” Icon from the Visualization toolbar.Viewing V4 FTA information in CATIAV5 . 4. The “Annotation Set Switch” window appears. 5. Generating drafting “Views from 3D” on a 2D drawing Sheet .1 of 3 This Scenario outlines the process to create 2D Views by projecting the 3D FTA data onto a drawing sheet with an FTA license 1. Expand the Specification Graph so that the “ *TOLPx ” branch is visible. 2. Repeat the Steps from Slides 10. 15 . 11 and 12 so that the FTA information is visible. Right click the “ *TOLPx ” branch as select “COPY” Right click the “Product” and select “PASTE” 16 . 4.1 of 3 3.Generating drafting “Views from 3D” on a 2D drawing Sheet . You may encounter a “Partial Migration” Panel if some of the Data could not be migrated. Any Data that is not migrated is added to a dedicated capture in the specification tree.1 of 3 5.Generating drafting “Views from 3D” on a 2D drawing Sheet . (See Appendix) 17 . 10. 13. Create a New Drawing (File – New – Drawing) Select the Paper Size (Standard = SDE_ISO) Change to the Sheet Background (Edit – Sheet Background) Select the “Frame and Title Block” Icon to generate an SDE drawing border. 7. 12. 9. Select “Creation” + APPLY Select “Checked By” + Apply (Add users name) Select “AddRevisionBlock” + Apply (Add Initials & Comment) Select OK 18 .1 of 3 6. 8. 11.Generating drafting “Views from 3D” on a 2D drawing Sheet . drag the green frame to position the view then select the white sheet to place it. To Create a View the will show the 3D FTA annotation the Drafting View type of “View from 3D” is used. Swap back to the 3D window or tile horizontally the screen.1 of 3 7. Select the icon 8. Select from the specification tree the first “View” in the Views node 9.Generating drafting “Views from 3D” on a 2D drawing Sheet . 10. A Preview of the view will appear. Repeat steps 7 thro 9 for the other Views until you have created them all NOTE: Remember these views may not be orthogonal as you can see below 19 . Appendix – 1 of 2 ƒ How to View FTA information that was not Migrated Ì Ì Ì When the *TOLx is pasted onto the top level product a message may appear informing the user of any FTA that could not be migrated. This NON migrated data is stored in a dedicated CAPTURE in the specification tree called “Non Migrated data of *TOLx” To View this Data Right Click on the Non Migrated Capture node and select “Display Capture” • In the example below it is the Chamfer Dimension that is not Migrated 20 . The missing annotations will need to be added manually using standard V5 drafting techniques 21 .Appendix – 2 of 2 ƒ How to View FTA information that was not Migrated Ì When the drawing is created the FTA that was not migrated will not appear in the views generate by the “View From 3D” function.
