The key requirements were: ¡ Data integration & synchronization with existing legacy systems ¡ Standardization of processes and codes across different zones (railways) by FMM-LMS team to implement a universal solution ¡ Integration of automation devices like smart camera, PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) , kiosks and e-pens in the business process ¡ Establishing communication with 24x7 busy railway staff in order to understand their processes through gaining field experience from maintenance units, operation units, management units, research wing and production units ¡ Environmental challenges posed due to the vast operating nature of the railway network THE SOLUTION We implemented an SAP-based FMM-LMS solution to leverage an effective information system for traffic management and integration with central applications. We also developed a central portal, ROAMS (Rolling Asset Management System), to host various applications being developed under the supervision of the client for the mechanical wing of the railways network. It includes FMM, LMS, ICF (Integral Coach Factory) and WISE (Workshop Management System).
