This report discusses the importance of the Industrial training scheme in general. is a concise report which showcases the experience from basic studies on Nigerian Breweries. It includes the organization’s structure and history of the firm. Hence.ABSTRACT T he most important asset of any Industrial organization is the human capital available to it. I was attached to the Nigerian Breweries between May and October 2013. The SIWES (Students’ Industrial work Experience Scheme) is a skill training and competence building intervention for students in the University before entering into the Nation’s Labour Force. it also talks about the work carried out and experienced gained during the course of my IT (industrial Training) with NB plc. As part of the Partial fulfillment of the award of B.tech in Mathematics & Statistics and the Industrial Training Fund (ITF). the Industry depends on the technical competence of its staff for its smooth operation. The student aim to amass attributes like resourcefulness.0 Introduction T he purpose of SIWES (Student Industrial Work experience Scheme) is to bridge the gap between the theoretical knowledge acquired from the classroom (Theoretical Education) and that gotten from the world out there in their various field of learning. Its an academic program designed for students undergoing degree courses targeted at exposing the students to real work of life and exposing them to obtaining a practical knowledge of various fields. methodical working and leadership traits which will be an added advantage for anybody. Not only will it broaden one’s perspective on what one is studying. 4 . in Enugu State was commissioned and christened Ama Brewery. the Nigerian Breweries now has eight operational breweries from which its high quality products are distributed to all parts of Nigeria. This followed Heineken’s acquisition of controlling interests in five breweries in Nigeria from Sona Group in January 2011. Sona Systems’ two breweries in Ota and Kaduna. Malta Gold and Life Continental lager. sited at Ameke. Ama Brewery is today. (Sona Systems) and Life Breweries Limited from Heineken N. was incorporated in 1946. recorded a landmark when its first bottle of STAR lager beer rolled off its Lagos Brewery bottling lines in June 1949. and Life Breweries in Onitsha have now become part of Nigerian Breweries Plc. However. the biggest and most modern brewery in Nigeria. its sixth brewery. from the humble beginning in 1946. This first brewery in Lagos has undergone several optimization processes and as at today boasts of the most modern brew house in the country. Nigerian Breweries acquired majority equity interests in Sona Systems Associates Business Management Limited. Thus. its fifth brewery in Enugu sprouts forth and in October 2003.COMPANY PROFILE N igerian Breweries Plc. in addition to the ultra-modern malting plant in Aba and Kaduna. 5 . the company commissioned its second brewery in Aba. Operations in the Old Enugu Brewery were discontinued in 2004. Kaduna Brewery was commissioned in 1963 while Ibadan Brewery came on stream in 1982. In October 2011. The ITF Reimbursement Scheme was established to motivate and encourage contributing employers to train and re-train their employees. it is good policy to invest in the development of their skills. It also provides human resource development information and training technology service to the company so as to enhance its manpower capacity and in-house training delivery effort. and regarding these reasons. are being encouraged. It has therefore become a necessity to evolve new areas of approach to enhance the relevance training and quality required for the company at large. Preparation of training Materials: these training kits are usually prepared by us in-other to save some cost from the various providers whom would send us their softcopies which we would then print and distribute to the facilitators and trainees. But since trainees commitment to learning relies so heavily on confidence and a belief that the learning is achievable. but the best way to answer the questions is for the evaluation to be a joint project between trainees and providers. A questionnaire helps to answer these questions. The process of evaluation is considered to be of a relatively great value and a vital aspect of any sort of evaluation is its effect on the person being evaluated. coupled with results presented back to the company. 14 .A sample of an evaluation of a training detailing a few of questions being asked and analysis of result obtained represented both graphically and pictorially. 15 . The challenges are relatively in-evitable and whatever it is we have to overcome it with a positive attitude and sensing the problem in the right way. Each day ushers a new opportunity enriched with diverse challenges of which we can’t categorize which one will be the toughest. Here is a few of the difficulties which only poses a form of delay or setback towards attaining a targeted goal during my Industrial Training experience.CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED Challenges are part and parcel of life.  Paper jam on printers and photocopiers.  Delay on the release of Purchase order(s) from logistics department and sometimes an inbound on the company’s data base.  Delay in the process of obtaining approvals from ITF. so that they would recognize the importance of SIWES for students thereby making placements in these companies easier.CHAPTER 4 CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION RECOMMENDATION  The ITF should increase their publicity and go educate several companies. have been able to obtain the most relevant and effective practical Industrial Training and been exposed to real life activities. As a student. This would serve to guide the students in getting placements at the appropriate place and in record time.development prior to graduates. 16 . given me a better understanding of the labour market and the world out there at large. SIWES is a relevant program for student which should be taken advantage of for pre.  The Tertiary institutions should give a basic outline of the types of companies students can work in depending on their course of study before the program starts. and communication skills with the opportunity given to get a feel of the work vicinity and an exposure as a student. CONCLUSION The aim and objectives of the Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) has been duly achieved. Furthermore an awareness of the workplace has been developed in me having acquired behavior and interpersonal.
