Product Data SheetAND MINING SikaFume ®DS Concrete Additive Product Description Uses SikaFume® is a concrete additive in powder form based on silica fume technology. SikaFume® is used in Precast Elements , High Quality Concrete , Shotcrete for tunnels. And other fields of concrete construction where great demands are required on the quality of fresh and hardened concrete. Characteristics / Advantages SikaFume® contains extremely fine (0.15 µm) latently reactive silicon dioxide. The presence of this substance gives greatly improved internal cohesion, water retention and increased density when set. The fresh concrete becomes extremely soft and the pumping properties are substantially improved. In the set concrete, the latently reactive silica fume forms a chemical bond with the free lime. SIKA TUNNELING The additional crystal formation and the fineness of SikaFume® produce a significantly more dense set cement matrix. When used additionally with Sikament® superplasticiser, the concrete will show the following properties: • Increased durability • High early strength • Increased ultimate strength • Increased resistance to abrasion • Highly increased water tightness • • Highly increased gas tightness Highly reduced chloride diffusion SikaFume® contains no chlorides or other potentially corrosive substances. Product Data Packaging 20 kg bags (bulk bag deliveries can be arranged) Form Appearance / Colour Grey to dark grey powder Application Instructions Dispensing In order to achieve proper dispersion of the SikaFume® and to maximise the mix consistency and admixture performance. Superplasticiser should then be added.15 micron Density 0.5 ± 0.O. The remaining part of the ‘calculated’ water shall be dispensed gradually until target slump Is achived Wet Mix Plant 1. 4. 80% of the re quired added water should then be dispensed . The required amount of bags of SikaFume® should be counted and certified by the S. 3. 6. Before batching. and batched in as the first ingredients. 80% of the required added water shall be dispensed . Superplasticiser is added after the total cement is batched. always use in conjunction with retarder and superplasticiser or directly with a superplasticiser (such as Viscocrete Based Series or Sikament 170 ). the following dispensing sequence is recommended: Dry Mix Plant 1. SikaFume® shall be dispensed together with sand and aggregates. For optimum results in concrete.
