SLIIT ROBOFEST2011School Competition What is ROBOFEST? The Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) presents ROBOFEST, an annual robotic competition geared to showcase the creative talents of students and enthusiasts all around the country. ROBOFEST 2010 ROBOFEST 2010, the first robotic competition was held on 15 th September at the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology Malabe Campus. ROBOFEST 2010 was an initiative carried out by the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at SLIIT and was sponsored by OREL Solutions, the local distributor for FARNELL UK, which is one of the world's leading distributors of electronic, electrical, industrial and maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) products. ROBOFEST 2010 was open only for SLIIT students. A total of 31 teams from each of SLIIT's academic departments, consisting of 5 students each, battled it out for prizes awarded by OREL Solutions, which included vouchers worth 50,000 (First place), 25,000 (second place) and 15,000 (third place) to purchase items from the company's extensive product line. In addition, the award for The Best Robot Design (Rs. 35,000) was given under the patronage of Metropolitan (pvt) Ltd. The event received great acclaim acceptance and publicity by 7 major TV channels in Sri Lanka including Rupavahini, ITN, Sirasa/MTV, Swarnavahini, TV Derana, Siyatha, ART and prime TV. Further, this was published in over 10 popular websites, national newspapers and even telecast in various radio channels. ROBOFEST 2011 The Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering of the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology is holding its 2nd annual robotics competition, ROBOFEST 2011. Venue : Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology Malabe Campus Date : 15th & 16th September 2011. The events will include a University competition, a School competition and an Open Competition. Therefore, this time not only SLIIT students but also students from other universities, schools as well as other interested personnel are given a chance to participate in the competition by combining the practical application of science and technology with the fun, intense energy and excitement of a championship-sporting event. The arena is where you can get to know other team members and perhaps pick a few brains and learn something new. The ROBOFEST staff and volunteers want you to enjoy the “Line following” competition and request that everyone follow courtesy rules while in the arena, on the playing field, and in the audience. 1 Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology gear box.) Scoring Criteria Each robot will get 10 minutes to reach the GOAL at the end of the round. After the switch is turned on. The decision of the judges is final.
