Aprilian, MSc, Menyelesaikan S1 di Jurusan Teknik Perminyakan ITB pada tahun 1987. Pernah bekerja di Lemigas selama 1 tahun kemudian mengikuti program BPST (Bimbingan Profesi Sarjana Teknik) EP Angkatan I yang diselenggarakan Pertamina, dan menjadi pekerja Pertamina sejak September 1989. Mendapat beasiswa dari Pertamina untuk menyelesaikan program S2 di Teknik Perminyakan ITB (1993), dilanjutkan program S3 di Petroleum Engineering, Texas A&M University, USA (1998). Memulai karir di Pertamina tahun 1998 sebagai Ahli Teknik Lapangan (ATL) di Lapangan Tanjung (Kalimantan Selatan), kemudian sebagai asisten ahli Waterflooding (1993), ahli utama Reservoir Data Analysis di Direktorat Hulu (1998), Manajer Pengembangan di Lapangan Prabumulih (2002), Manajer Eksploitasi Jakarta (2003), Manajer Reservoir Jakarta (2005), Vice President Region Kalimantan dan Timur Indonesia – KTI (2006), Deputy Project Executive Mobil Cepu Ltd. – MCL (2006), Presiden Direktur PT Pertamina EP Cepu (2008), dan Presiden Direktur PT Pertamina EP (2009 - sekarang). Mendapat penghargaan: The Best Leader of TLE for Breakthrough Project (BTP) Pertamina Hulu (2007), Dharma Karya Madya dari Menteri ESDM (2009). Menjadi pengurus dan anggota aktif dalam organisasi profesional, seperti SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers), IATMI (Ikatan Ahli Teknik Perminyakan Indonesia), IPA (Indonesian Petroleum Association), dan IAGI (Ikatan Ahli Geologi Indonesia). Beberapa tulisan ilmiahnya pernah dipresentasikan baik dalam forum internasional di SPE, IPA, maupun forum nasional seperti di IATMI, IAGI, KMI (Komunitas Migas Indonesia), ETTI (Exploration Think Tank Indonesia), Student Chapters, Diskusi Panel, Luncheon Talks, dan lain-lain. Menjadi Ketua Umum PetroGolf Club ( sejak 2009) organisasi nirlaba para pecinta golf di industri migas Indonesia.
