Ar Rahman Ar RaheemFriday Night Circle 6:12 Say: "To whom belongeth all that is in the heavens and on earth?" Say: "To Allah. He hath inscribed for Himself (the rule of) Mercy. That He will gather you together for the Day of Judgment, there is no doubt whatever. It is they who have lost their own souls, that will not believe. "ar-Rahman ar-Rahim” (The Beneficent, the Merciful) are two adjectives derived from arrahmah (mercy). Defining ar-rahmah (mercy) as it relates to Allah: • Acting out graciously for a helpless being Allah's General and Specific Mercy: "ar-Rahman" is on a paradigm which is used for magnification and exaggeration. • ‘ismul khassa, sifatun aamma "ar-Rahim" paradigm of as-Sifatu'l-mushabbah (perpetual adjective, inseparable attribute). • ‘ismun aamm, sifatun khassa General application of Allah’s Rahmah in the Sifat of Rahman: َ ُ َ ْ ّ ‫الرحمن عَلى ال ْعَرش است َوى‬ َ ْ ِ ْ 20:5 the Most Gracious, established on the throne of His almightiness? َ ّ ‫قُل من كان في الضلل َةِ فَل ْي َمد ُد ْ ل َه الرحمن مدا‬ ِ َ َ ّ َ ُ َ ْ ّ ُ ْ َ ْ ‫حتى إ ِذا رأ َوا ما يوعَدون إ ِما ال ْعَذاب وَإ ِما الساعَة‬ َ ّ ّ َ َ َ ُ َ ْ َ َ ّ ّ َ ُ ‫فَسي َعْل َمون من هُوَ شر مكانا وَأ َضعَف جندا‬ ً َ ّ ّ َ ً ُ ُ ْ َ ْ َ َ ُ Surah Al Fateha Tafseer Ar Rahman Ar Raheem Friday Night Circle 19:75 Say: "As for him who lives in error, may the Most Gracious lengthen the span of his life! [And let them say whatever they say until the time when they behold that [doom] of which they were forewarned- whether it be suffering [in this world] or [at the coming of] the Last Hour: for then they will understand which [of the two kinds of man] was worse in station and weaker in resources! Specification of Allah’s Rahmah in the Sifat of Raheem: َ َ ْ ّ َ ‫هُوَ ال ّذي ي ُصلي عَل َي ْك ُم وَملئ ِك َت ُه ل ِي ُخرِجكم من‬ ِ ُ َ ّ ُ َ ْ َ ِ َ ‫الظ ّل ُمات إ ِلى النورِ وَكان بال ْمؤْمنين رحيما‬ ّ ً ِ َ َ ِ ِ ُ ِ َ َ 33:43 He it is who bestows His blessings upon you, with His angels [echoing Him], so that He might take you out of the depths of darkness into the light. And, indeed, a dispenser of grace is He unto the believers. 9:117: Indeed, God has turned in His mercy unto the Prophet, as well as unto those who have forsaken the domain of evil and those who have sheltered and succored the Faiths- [all] those who followed him in the hour of distress, when the hearts of some of the other believers had wellnigh swerved from faith. And once again: He has turned unto them in His mercy- for, behold, He is compassionate towards them, a dispenser of grace. A narration from Imam Sadiq (a.s.) says: "Allah is the God of all things and is Beneficent to all His creatures, and He is Merciful, especially to the believers." al-Kafi, Book of Tauhid by Sheikh Sadooq, and Ma'ani-yul-Akhbar (according to Al-Mizan Commentary) Beginning by calling on Allah, ar-Rahman, ar-Raheem Brings the hearts closer Mercy is the quality sought when one is helpless o Allah’s Mercy is Absolute Allah’s Mercy is a gracious incentive and invitation o Section 19 Dua Jawshan Kabeer  “Oh He, Whose Wrath is surpassed by His Mercy” Redefines man’s social protocol and paradigm - Surah Al Fateha Tafseer Ar Rahman Ar Raheem Friday Night Circle 48:29 Muhammad is the apostle of Allah. and those who are with him are strong against Unbelievers, (but) compassionate amongst each other. Thou wilt see them bow and prostrate themselves (in prayer), seeking Grace from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure. On their faces are their marks, (being) the traces of their prostration. This is their similitude in the Taurat; and their similitude in the Gospel is: like a seed which sends forth its blade, then makes it strong; it then becomes thick, and it stands on its own stem, (filling) the planters with wonder and delight. As a result, it fills the Unbelievers with rage at them. Allah has promised those among them who believe and do righteous deeds forgiveness, and a great Reward. "Verily, there are one hundred mercies belonging to Allah, from which, He has sent down to the Earth only one and distributed that one among His creatures. All the mercy and affection they have, issue from it. He, the Merciful, withheld the other 99 for Himself to show mercy upon His servants on the Day of Resurrection ". -Holy Prophet (Majma'-ulBayan, vol. 1, p. 21) Surah Al Fateha Tafseer
