Lab Scenario: Quality of ServiceIn this lab, you will: Configure QoS Scenario The network monitoring group reports a high number of sessions using video streaming applications, which is impacting overall network throughput. You have been instructed to allow, but throttle, video streams from the site ustream.tv. You must not completely block the traffic and there should be as minimal impact to other traffic as possible. Lab Solution: Quality of Service Enable and Verify Video Applications 1. Select Policies > Security. 2. Confirm that there is security rule named egress-outside that allow the traffic from inside zone to outside zone, for any application with application-default port. ©2016, Palo Alto Networks, Inc. | 1 3. From the desktop, open a web browser. 4. Verify that you can view videos on www.youtube.com 5. Close the browser. Define a QoS Profile 6. Select Network > Network Profiles > QoS Profile. 7. Click Add and create a new profile: Profile Name Enter Student-QoS-Profile Classes Click Add Select class1 in the Class column Select real-time in the Priority column Enter 1 in the Egress Max column Click Add Select class4 in the Class column Select high in the Priority column Click Add Select class8 in the Class column Select low in the Priority column Enter .1 in the Egress Max column 8. Click OK to close the Profile Configuration window. Define a QoS Policy 9. Select Policies > QoS. 10. Click Add and create a new policy: General tab Name Enter Student-QoS-Policy Source tab Source Zone Select Inside 2 | ©2016, Palo Alto Networks, Inc. Destination tab Destination Zone Select Outside Application tab Applications Click Add Select youtube Other Settings tab Class Select 8 11. Click OK to close the Policy Configuration window. Assign the QoS Profile to an Interface 12. Select Network > QoS. 13. Click Add and create a QoS definition: Physical Interface tab Interface Name Select ethernet1/1 Clear Text Select Student-QoS-Profile 14. Click OK to close the QoS Configuration window. 15. Commit the changes. Test the QoS Policy 16. Open a Web browser and connect to http://www.youtube.com 17. Open multiple tabs and play different videos in each of 5-10 tabs to generate traffic. 18. Return to the WebUI and select Network > QoS. 19. Click Statistics next to ethernet1/1. 20. Expand the default-group and select class8 to review application traffic through this interface. Verify that the bandwidth is shaped to stay below the 100 Kbps (.1 Mbps) you set in the profile. ©2016, Palo Alto Networks, Inc. | 3 21. Close the QoS Statistics window. 22.
