If the dimensions of a sign that you are creating is 1234mm long by 345mm high, then that would be the size you set. For the first job we will use A4 paper so the LENGTH is 290mm and the HEIGHT is 210mm. Once again, this is the ACTUAL sign size, NOT the size of the material loaded into the plotter. Enter the sizes, select mm, Select OK. At this point you may get a ‘tip’ screen, close it. The screen now shows you a ‘page’ with a size of 290mm x 210mm high. You MUST set the ‘material size’ to the ACTUAL height of your sign for EVERY J OB, in this case it is 210mm. Erase whatever is there at the moment and enter 210. Then click on ‘pressure’ this action will erase any ‘panels’ you may see. ACTIONS ON CUTTING PANEL THAT WILL AFFECT THE OUTPUT Mirror Rotate Weeding Will automatically put a ‘weed’ or cut line around the job. Advance: If you select advance, when the plotter has finished the current job it will automatically Advance the roll of vinyl ready for the next job. For the next action I have made the circle red: (Selected the circle, then View, Colour Palette, then used the RIGHT HAND MOUSE BUTTON to give the circle a red outline) You will notice that on the Cutting Panel there are now two colours showing: If I click on ANY individual colour then ONLY objects of that colour will be cut. More than one colour can be selected or obviously All colours. [email protected] – www.premiersign.co.uk 19 OPTIONS The only options you may use are • Sort objects (will allow the cutter to cut objects in a sorted fashion rather than randomly) • Save material (will put all objects to be cut as close to the bottom left corner as possible, thereby saving material) • Start point orientation is only used if the offset value needs to be changed (for different degree blades). Finally Select START, this sends data to the plotter. SignCut X2 Installation. Regardless of which method used you need to have access to the Internet to register, if you do not have access then you cannot use SigncutX2 and you will need to upgrade to the full dongle version which does not require Internet access. Register at signcut. http://www.sc-x2.com To register click on ‘Customer Login’ Enter your details as requested. You will receive a ‘licence number’ by email. Please Retain this! Next click Pricelist The version is the 1 year subscription, if required, click on the appropriate Buy Now button. At this point you need to select ‘Purchase Ticket’ from the drop down menu and then enter your licence number that you received by email. You will then be asked to enter a ‘Ticket Code’ this can be found in your SigncutX2 package on a peach coloured card. You should now proceed to the download section and download the latest version of SignCut-X2. Addendum The VectorX plotter is able to use the Redsail or the Refine drivers. If you find you have problems with the Redsail drivers, install the Refine drivers by: 1.. Select Add/Remove programs in windows control panel. 2.. Select Modify 3.. Move the screen down so you can see the Refine driver, select it and follow the instructions. Insert the rollers Lift the plotter onto the assembly as shown. Make sure each rubber leg sits into the holes provided. The Castors can be locked or unlocked to allow mobility. [email protected] – www.premiersign.co.uk 25 Blade Setup Setting up the blade and holder: 1. Remove the Blade Holder Head from the Blade Holder Shaft by turning it counter- clockwise. 2. If you are replacing a worn blade, remove the old blade from the Blade Holder shaft. 3. While holding the Blade Holder Head, take the new blade and drop the new blade into the Blade Holder Head. 4. Make sure the blade passes through the hole on the Blade Holder Head. 5. Position the Blade Holder Head back in the Blade Holder Shaft and screw on until hand tight (The holder should have no threads showing) Put the blade holder in the carrier so that the cap sits on top of the carrier holder. Turn the plotter on. Adjust the pressure as shown here. 1. Set the pressure to 90 2. Turn the plotter offline 3. Press the TEST button once. A square will be cut. If nothing happens then the online button needs to be pressed once more. 4. Use the down arrow key to feed the vinyl forward 5. If the pressure is correct you should be able to peel the square out easily. If not then: Press ONLINE. The cutter will return to its start point. Follow the instructions below. a. Not cut deep enough: increase the pressure by 10, go back to step 2 b. [email protected] – www.premiersign.co.uk 26 Vinyl Application 1 - Position graphic or vinyl lettering complete with application top paper and backing, roughly where it is required. 2- Hold in place with masking (or similar) tape. 3 - Adjust position until the text is level or exactly where required. 4 - Stick a strip of tape along the entire top edge. 5 - You can now cut the graphic into more manageable pieces, without it moving. 6 - Working on one section at a time, hinge the graphic section up on the masking tape and pull down the backing paper. Be careful to ensure the actual vinyl graphic remains on the top application paper. 7 - With the backing paper removed, gradually apply the graphic. Using a squeegee (or rag) apply pressure to the graphic in a sideways motion, gradually moving down until the vinyl has been stuck . 8 - Continue with the other sections of the graphic. 9 - Carefully remove the top application tape to leave only the vinyl. 10 - Any bubbles can be pricked with a pin and pressed down. Alternative Wet Application Fill a spray bottle with clean water and add 2 drops of Johnson's baby shampoo. Spray a thin film of this water on to the surface of the job and the back of the vinyl (sticky side) just before sticking the graphic down. Allow to dry before removing the top application tape. Wet application can be used in conjunction with the dry method described above or when position is not critical you can apply graphics wet without aligning first: 1 - Simply spray a film of water solution on the surface. 2 - Remove backing from graphic and slap on. 3 - Squeegee out water. 4 - Allow to dry before removing application tape.
