Ltd. It was a software development house. I worked there as an internet. I participated in the project that involved computerized automation for PMDC (Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation, a government agency). I worked as a Q&A engineer and created use-cases. I also helped their software team in their E-R modeling. During my stay there, I learned and explored MS ASP 2.0 and ADO 2 from their webdevelopment team. Work Projects NexBill (Since July 1999) The billing and customer care system for the internet service provider, Nexlinx. The system has under-gone four major revisions. In first cycle, different problems in the old system (Linux/Perl/mySQL) were fixed. The second version was developed from ground up and was based on third party radius server. Other systems and modules were developed around it using ASP/VBScript, MS SQL server and Windows application written in Visual Basic. The third version was made to enhance it by replacing ASP/VBScript code parts with COM/COM+ components/services written in Visual Basic and Visual C++ (ATL), Web application and Windows application was upgraded to use these components. DCOM, XML over HTTP technologies were used to link up different modules where required. The fourth version has been made from ground up using Microsoft.NET. Extensive documentation has been done and OOA/D (Object oriented architecting and design) methodologies were adopted. Radius server is implemented and third party dependency has been removed. DCOM has been replaced with Remoting, XML/HTTP has been replaced with Web Services, InterOP is used to provide the required interfacing to other COM aware applications. The system was made generalized and its been successfully used by company’s partners and other third parties in different cities. We have also tried to make the system, patterns friendly. The system has the following parts. • • • Central identity management system. Central system for authentication, authorization and accounting. Authentication system using Radius protocol for different type of access services including dialup, wireless and DSL (broad-band) Accounting modules with post paid and pre paid packages. Support for different type of packages based on time of day/week, time bank, money bank and bytes bank (volume based). Tiered packages, different package at different time of day also supported. Authorization system to support of different service types like analog-dialup, ISDN dialup, wireless and DSL. Point to point and point to point over Ethernet protocols have been used. Clients can be restricted based on day of time/day of week, concurrency checks are also implemented. Automated disconnection and account de-activation also implemented. Online payment/transaction system for the sale points and dealers. Commission to resellers are given in real-time. Reseller/Dealer and Sale point management, reporting and tracking system. Clearing house modules, that’s being used by auditors and accounts departments. Extensive reporting modules using (a) Windows services that uses data-mining to gather required information from different data-sources like database system, network devices, (b) ActiveX components that are used by the Windows services for the report generation, (c) ASP based website that exposes reports over XML and (d) client end applications including desktop, MS Office add-ins for Excel/Word and web application that retrieve the information from the reporting web server using XML over HTTP Customer care web based application that is being used by the customer support staff and company’s resellers over the internet at remote offices, sale points and front desks. The system contains different modules including Mail, Fax and SMS (short message service) agents that sends mail, faxes and SMS to user about their account status, invoice generation and ODBC interfaces for the external FTP and Mail server authentication link-ups on which FTP/Mail provisioning systems are made. The system also exposes its functionality and data using COM/COM+, SOAP and XML technologies for in-house software developers. Different enterprise class applications are integrated using these.
