One should always be truthful and benevolent to oneself, and to the community of humankind always with devotion to discharge his/her duties which alone will enable generating respect for humankind leading to a peaceful life. Human Rights and Human Duties must go hand in hand. Human rights and freedom are absolute necessary but not at cost of disharmony, or causing loss to national integration, counter to national goals and hurting others. We find that often we expect too much freedom and rights but in return we forget our duties towards society and lack moral duties as can be seen from a general unrest in the society and lawlessness around us in India. CHILD RIGHTS One of the fundamental requirement of any child is education. Hence Right to Free school education is must. However, in several nations the school system is not free. This is dividing the children from school age into two classes haves and have-nots. This economic disparity is major reason for unrest and crime in the nation. The public schools are expensive, and a major portion of parent’s income goes for schooling cost for children and brings economic strain /stress on parents leading to life style evils in society. Only way out is to free the education till High School for all. No separate schools for elite rich class. This will also harmonize children of different culture and faith and economics status to live and work together. DUTIES OF PARENTS ---- It is duties of parents to send their children, compulsory, to school for education in place of using them to earn money. In case of violation by parents, they should be fined and punished. CHUILD ABUSE Every child must have right to get protection from abuse like illegal employment and sex. Government must protect misuse of children for begging or doing work or sexual exploitation. DUTIES OF ADMINISTRATORS Administrators should not allow child begging or employment of children under 18. Such children must be picked up by special teams and taken to child homes. RAMESH KUMAR GLOBAL HARMONY AND PEACE CENTRE 2 RIGHT TO GOOD HEALTH Every citizen should have right to have affordable health care facilities within affordable distance from his dwelling. DUTIES OF CITIZENS Every citizen must take care of his health as a prime duty thru better lifestyle, adopting nature cure and doing Yoga and meditation and Nature Cure. RIGHT TO WATER Safe drinking water and water for sanitation are basic need of all citizens, hence it becomes right. DUTIES OF CITIZENS All citizens must take proper care not to waste water and conserve every drop of water. RIGHT TO CLEAN AND SAFE ENVIORNMENT The government and local authorities should monitor and ensure clean and safe environment and take strict action against industries and polluters of national resources. DUTIES OF CITIZENS – Citizens should maintain cleanliness in public places, parks, lakes, and rivers. Public should not block roads and pollute rivers due to religious rituals. Public must switch voluntary to electric/ gas cremation of dead. Public should also object to any project which comes up without clearance of environmental ministry. RIGHT TO PROTECTION Right to Protection of all citizens: Compensation should be given for miss happenings like accidents on roads, riots, terrorist attacks, natural calamities, to affected people. DUTIES OF CITIZENS Public must be aware of happenings in his surrounding and report any case of preventing measures, negligence that can lead to road damage or rail damage or which can convert to accident or can lead to disaster or any anti national activity to concerned authorities. RIGHT TO RELIGION Yes, the right to religion is fundamental for all world citizens, but it should include Humanism as integral part of all religions. DUTIES OF RELIGIOUS LEADERS RAMESH KUMAR GLOBAL HARMONY AND PEACE CENTRE 3 The religious leaders all over the world, should ensure that the religion should make one spiritual and spirituality should lead to humanism i.e. serving humanity, society, and the deprived section of the society, so as to bring equality for a more peaceful world. TERRORISM RIGHT to Protection from terrorism - Government should take measures to counter terror attacks, such as improve economics of weak regions, which are prone to Naxalites or Maoists and aids terror activists, adopt advance security systems and trials of terrorists thru fast track courts. POLLUTION AND ECOLOGY RIGHTS OF CITIZENS Every citizen has right to get clean air, water, rivers, lakes, and protected forests. DUTIES OF ADMINISTRATION No new projects in urban area should be allowed. All such actions need strict compliance by local administration. DUTIES CITIZENS 1 Not to waste and pollute water. 2 Not to burn any organic / or other waste in open 3 Not to pollute river during festivals 4 Not to add noise pollution, pollute air, cause traffic disruptions during festivals. 5 To use electric / gas cremation in place of wood cremation. HEALTH RIGHTS Citizens must have Right to free access to basic health care thru hospitals and dispensaries. DUTIES OF ADMINISTRATION Government must educate General health care including Nature cure, Yoga and Meditation at school level and thru Awareness Camps / campaigns. DUTIES OF CITIZENS 1 To keep general cleanliness and hygiene around their area 2 Do regular practice of yoga and meditation 3 Hospitals should ensure that no avoidable surgery should be performed on patients. VIOLENCE ON WOMEN Lot of male in poor families are addicted to alcohol, tobacco and drugs, and it drains away sizable portion of their income. Moreover, often most of male after drinking alcohol beat their wife and children. Government must support such families, thru counselling and training in adopting yoga and naturopathy to get rid of bad habits with support of local NGOs. RIGHTS OF WOMEN FREEDOM Women must have equal rights in every religion to adopt Humanism and use dress code to her wishes and freedom and society and religious leaders should not enforce any ritual out of force on women followers. DUTIES OF WOMEN Women of all religions should work for equality, humanity, divinity and integrity of society. POLITICS The politics world over is getting criminalized day by day. The race to win in politics and business is so intense that it is kills all ethics. Law makers become law breakers. The political system worldwide has become most corrupt and root cause of unrest everywhere. Citizens must have rights in order to check performance of the elected representatives like legislatures, ministers, bureaucrats etc. and work in coordination with civil rights society to remove them if they are corrupt or non-performing. RIGHTS OF CIVIL SOCIETY The civil rights society or welfare association of local residents must have rights to recommend removal of MLA/ MP/ Legislature etc by reporting matter to special civil court, if the subject legislature is not delivering to the community or using corrupt practices for his personal gains. DUTIES OF PUBLIC Public should not approach legislatures to get some favours on illegal activities like construction of house thru illegal ways, illegal encroachment of roads by shop keepers etc GOOD GOVERNANCE AND STRICT ACCOUNTABILITY India and many similar Asian nations have very poor, slow, and lethargic judicial system. Bureaucrats have no accountability. The people in power and politics often misuse their power with support of bureaucrats to meet selfish motives. Political rivals use media to negate reforms and positive development of government in power. In such atmosphere drastic changes are RAMESH KUMAR GLOBAL HARMONY AND PEACE CENTRE 5 required where law can be enforced with strictness. Bureaucrats should be made accountable and should be punished for non-performance or given rewards for good performance. RIGHTS TO GOOD GOVERNANCE Yes, public has right to get good governance and must get relief from bad governance. The public servants must be punished or rewarded as per their performance so that they strife for their duties. DUTIES OF PUBLIC Public has duty to report any type of bad governance faced by citizens. ANIMAL RIGHTS Animal rights are good if animals do not become a menace. Monkey menace and frequent dog bites on a street or area is common. Here a balanced approach is needed to implement animal rights, since the cost of human lives cannot be ignored. Hence adequate measures should be taken to resolve the problem without sacrificing animal rights. LABOUR LAWS AND EMPLOYMENT Lot of industries get closed due to politics played by few leaders of labor unions, leading to more unemployment and does not solve interest of employer and employees. Hence a balanced approach must be adopted by both work force and employers so that they are not exploited by union leaders. Rights of labor and Duties of Employer - To get proper wages as per skills and health of company, ESI, PF, good environment and other benefits as per rules. Factory automation and robotics should be used for accuracy and quality and not to curtail manpower. As unemployment will lead to economic disparity and unrest. PRACTICE OF RELIGION RIGHTS Every citizen has right to practice his religion and duty to respect other religions and believe in Oneness of God. DUTIES Religious leaders should not impose any diktats on followers, but let followers, allow to practice religion with harmony, humanity, secularism and peace as basic fundamental duty. CONCLUSION Human rights and freedom are absolute necessary but not at cost of disharmony, or causing loss to national integration, counter to national goals and hurting others. At the epicenter of any change for a better future is self-transformation. The transformation occurs thru management and coordination between mind, intellect, consciousness, physical body and the ego.
