The best advice i can give you is be yourself! Do not go in there pretending your something your not!I was honest with them, told them how important my friends and family were to me and just told them honestly what I thought of the school, the new systems and teachers and them. Of course, do not come across rudely or abruptly. Good luck! It is a brilliant thing to achieve so i hope you do well! I found that if you say you want to give something back to the school the teachers realy appreciatte that and then also say that if you headboy you would be able to help with any problem that any student might have it sounds patronising but they appreciate it i believe that this is true for myself as well. you have no motivation. i would not be standing for this respected role of Head Boy if i did not have these three things. no dreams and no desire. if you have nothing to aim for.Mohammed Ali once said. you'll win it hands down!!! . "what keeps me going is goals". . and give examples. Also talk a little bit about what impression you would leave on the school if head boy.I talk about how experiences from the past have made you a better person today. Class of 2009 and beyond we know not what tomorrow brings. Always looking forward and never behind. As your leader I vow to seek avenues to implement and sustain a better learning system not only for the class of 2009 but also for those that will be threading behind. that those who follow may have a shinning example of the endless possibilities that await them. 2010. the lower class of society. not more followers -Ralph Nader Jack Hayward High School. contrary to popular belief. We must pave the road of destiny. D'Angelo once quoted 'that you do not have to hold a position to be a leader. crying in the wilderness. On reflection I think Mahatma Ghandi said it best and I quote we must become the change we want to see. As you leader I vow to dedicate my time. We must take a stand for what is right. 2011 and beyond. The quality of a leader is reflected in the standards they set for themselves. and it imposes on both leader and follower alike the burdens of self-restraint. The eyes seeing past doubt and indecision. As your leader I challenge you not to become a statistic but rather an exception to the rule. We must not waiver or falter in our beliefs. taking with me the dreams and aspirations of those that support a vision that will ultimately be for the betterment of the people. but to challenge you to choose a leader that can take you from where you are. Leadership consists not in degrees of technique but in traits of character. I challenge you not to fit into anyone's box but rather to think outside the box. my intellect and my manpower to any cause that will empower us all to become leaders. but be ever certain that tomorrow begins with us. The only way to correct the past is by not repeating it in the future. how can I allow myself to become influenced by the ideals of my peers? If I want to lead the orchestra I must turn my back on the crowd. as one. . but in the face of adversity. yet promotes a positive mindset. I see before me the class of 2009. it requires moral rather than athletic or intellectual effort. what is a leader. Jack Hayward High School as your future leader I am not only obligated but find it indigenous upon me to be the voice. but weighs the scale because of an inner desire to do what is morally correct. I stand before you not seeking to defame my fellow candidates. It is said that anyone can hold the helm when the sea is calm. As your leader I vow progression not digression. to where you have never been. focusing only on hope and possibilities. I must not tip the scale of justice because of influential standing. Class of 2009 and beyond We Are All LEADERS. true leaders are born. With this I must ask. Well. .. as I. am a candidate for CHANGE. but will also offer a solution to all YOUR problems. and I will not only offer a solution to just these problems. *****. I know I AM. you aren't selling me something. in which case feel free to pile all the bull on. Eventhough questions are a great technique for persuasion you probably want to only use one or two. Talk to people on their level.. . I would probably cut down on the questions.. Unless you are at a posh school.First. people respond much better if you are just open. honest and cut through the bull. you are not going for the job of anyone of any great importance and therefore a "candidate for change" just sounds like you think you are better than everyone.they love it. personally I would go informal. Why? It works that's why. . look as any political administration in turmoil and all they do is point the finger elsewhere. Decide if you are going to be formal or informal.try to find a common enemy. I'll do my best . Which isn't necessarily just based on the things you have listed. but if you need help. or being the best representative and coming down to the level of your peers.It's tough. Think about whatyou personally would want to see as the qualities of a head boy if you were on the outside looking in: is it trivial changes. Keep it simple. and not overly detailedlet them know the best of you is yet to come..You have to appeal more to the nature of the people. guiding them in the best manner you know how.maybe use some reverse psychology.. ." Thank your audience for their willingness to listen to what you have to say. Acknowledging your audience means stating who are you are addressing directly. Begin writing your speech by acknowledging and thanking your audience. These should also be problems that you can realistically address when elected. Be descriptive so that you paint a vivid picture of positive outcomes. Be specific about solutions you will pursue and how you will motivate students to support solving the problems. Describe what student life will be like once these situations are addressed. Restate your vision with passion. Mention any previous experience you've had related to the responsibilities of the office.  Describe two to three main problems. situations or areas of improvement for your class or school. State two to three reasons why you want to be elected.  Share your perspective about what's unique about your class and your school. Start off with the positive points and talk about subjects that tends to generate enthusiasm and excitement. Be specific and cite examples.  Describe how you intend to address the problems you just outlined. End your speech urging your classmates to vote for you and thanking them for their support. These issues may be complaints you've heard from students in the past about things that need to be changed. a formal address can be as simple as "my fellow students.  Conclude your speech with the reason why you're the best candidate for the office. If you're running for a school election.  Tell a little bit about yourself and why you are running for office. enthusiasm and optimism. . . . . . . . and my excellent communication skills. Giving you a voice. I want to give something back to our school. so now I want to provide new creative activities for you. With your help. there are many reasons why I wish to become Head Boy. I hope to make year eleven perfect for all of us! .Now. Firstly. Bishop Perowne has provided me with many opportunities. I believe it is very important for you to have a say in how the school is run: so it can be tailored to each and every one of you. This links into my second reason. but due to time limitations I shall only name a few. over this period I’ve seen us grow. so if anything is troubling you about school life. . I’m friendly and approachable. I’ve had some great times playing sport and doing shows for the school. that’s your voice. And. I would want to represent you. become a bit more mature. as well as inspire you. or if you have a really good idea. and made some very good friends.over the past four years I’ve got to know a lot of you. If I was chosen as Head Boy. and hopefully. you won’t need to keep it to yourself. I want the student’s voice. I also consider myself to be very confident. .you don’t need to think twice about asking me a question or suggesting an idea. If I were to be Head Boy I would lead by example. as whoever gets into the Leadership team gets a proper say in how things are run. and I have seen problems disappear thanks to the Leadership team.Hello. I have seen problems occur in school. nearly 4 full academic years now. and I have seen Leadership teams old and new. go by as I have been learning through this school. . I have been at this school for the same period of time as you. This is the reason I want to be Head Boy. It has seemed a job to admire. Thank you for listening. knowing that I have done something to change this school for the better. If I can do that. I want to leave the school in a year’s time. and I want to change the negatives into positives. there’s one more thing: I want to get the best out of all of you.But.
