The system was first introduced on engine management control units with electronic fuel injection around 1986.DIAGNOSTICS FAULT CODE READERS Modern vehicles have electronic control units (ECU) that are able to identify faults and record these in a memory. It is now virtually universal to all PETROL engine vehicles. It is now mandatory for diesel and LPG engines to comply with this legislation and Gunson are currently developing a Fault Code Reader for these vehicles. However. OBD The system is so simple that retrieving vehicle fault codes does not require particular skill.
