1st MALAYSIAN RAINFOREST SCOUT CHALLENGE 2011 01st 07th June 2011Royal Belum State Park, Banding Island, Gerik, Perak, Malaysia The Belum- Temengor Rainforest is a forest area with the size of 300,000 hectares which is located in the district of Hulu Perak and Northern end of the Malaysian Peninsula. The Belum Rainforest aged more than 130 million years old and one of the oldest forest in the world. Besides that, Belum Rainforest has been declared as the Royal Belum State Park by His Royal Highness Paduka Seri Sultan Azlan Shah on 31 Julai 2003. The Belum Rainforest treasures thousand of nature secrets especially living flora and fauna. Therefore , Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia Negeri Perak ( Perak state federation of Malaysian Scout) together with the Perak State government , Malaysia Tourism, Perak Tourism and the support EMKAY Malaysia have jointly taken a first bold step to explore into the Belum Rainforest¶s world through scouting programme: 1st Malaysian Rainforest Scout Challenge will be launched from 01 to 07 June at the Belum State Park, Pulau Banding, Gerik , Perak, Malaysia. 1. Objectives: 1.1. The noble objective of the ! st Malaysian Rainforest Scout ChallengeTM(MRSC) is to create awareness and to promote the understanding of the importance of sustaining the environment. 1.2. The feel and touch, hear and listen, look and observe, analyze and investigate approaches will encourage a hands-on experience (experiential learning) in analyzing the uniqueness of the environment thus develop the sense of love and care for the environment through serious plan of action in order to protect, to educate, to conserve and to safeguard the sustainability of the environment. 1.3. To know that environment education plays an important role in the scout programme 1.4. To developed strategies on how to deliver environment and nature education at all levels of the organization. 2.
