MUSIC - The Beatles: A British popular music group who made their first record in 1962 and became probably the most famous and successful group ever. The members of the Beatles were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison. Their songs were translated to many languages and they were famous for their style of singing. They were enormously popular and had a huge following of young people anxious to change an outdated society. Young people idolized them so much that they imitated their walk, their way of dressing and their actions. When they separated in 1970, each member of the group continued to work in popular music. POLITICS - John Fitzgerald Kennedy: He was the 35th president of the United States (1961-1963), a Democrat and the first Roman Catholic to be elected. He represented hope for peace and better understanding among all countries. He spent much of his time traveling to see and feel the problems of every country. He was shot and killed in Dallas, Texas.
