EARTHQUAKE DRILL
NARRATIVE REPORT

The Kinuman National High School held its Earthquake drill last July
2, 2014 at their respective grounds. The said drill was mandated by the
Department of Education pursuant to the DepEd memo series of 2014.

Prior to the event, the earthquake drill coordinator, Mr. Edmar E.
Raagas, conducted the plan and made the committee in coordination with the
school principal, Mrs. Clarinda Fe L. Simblante, to facilitate the said
drill. He organized the following; Disaster Management Team, Medical team,
and Rescue Team which were headed by Mr. Eljun B. Aranas and Ms. Rizia E.
Ragmac. In addition, the SSG officers and 4th year students were also
cooperating on the event to make it more successful. All members of the
team were responsible for the proper observance on how the students
responded to a certain disaster like earthquake. There was an orientation
made at hand to all year levels by their respective adviser before the day
of the drill. The medical Team however, headed by Mr. Eljun and Ms. Rizia
were the one who prepared the kit and other facilities needed for the said
drill with the assistance of the selected students who became members of
the team which were likewise being trained to be a part of the team. All
the necessary equipments were being prepared for assessing any untoward
incidents. As part of the team plans, dummy of injured students were
presented to visualize the actual scenario if how the team/s responded once
an incident happened in a real life situation. So, the main task of the
Rescue team was to secure all the injured and casualties inside the campus.
They transferred them to a certain designated area for medical assistance.

On the day of the drill, everybody was busy preparing their
assignments on their respective area. However, the students and pupils were
also doing their daily routine without the knowledge of the event. When the
bell sounded in an unusual tone, everyone was alarmed by those who are
responsible in keeping the students safe through the go signal of the
school principal. They were headed by selected students to evacuate the
classroom after 60 seconds together with the adviser/teacher who are
present inside the room to step out properly after the shake stops. These
were done through proper movement with free-hustle to avoid panic or
stampede during the event and by the used of the duck drop.

On the other hand, the medical team was already outside and
everything was prepared for the casualties and injuries (if there's any)
for assistance. Thus, the dummies representing the students, were already
performed their role inside the classroom as victims of the said dilemma.
They will be discovered after the headcount when somebody is missing. They
were assisted by the rescue team to bring them out from the building freely
in which many were surprised because they thought the dummies were real
when they had already transferred to the medical site which was properly
prepared by the team. Likewise, everybody was already in the site which was
also properly established to make the students/victims safe, secured and
well guarded. The said drill was successfully done through the help and
cooperation of each team and members of the said schools.

The overall rating was very satisfactory…
