Rules/InformationWelcome to the third annual Delta/Greely Summer Blast-off Triathlon! To help things run smoothly, please read the following information and rules for the race. Then sign the waiver and send in your registration and get training! Thank you for your participation. See you on race day! General Entry fee is $30. At this time, USAT rules and regulations do not apply. Minimum age requirement is 16 with signed waiver of authorization from parent or guardian if under 18. Please leave pets at home. Ft. Greely is a military post (pool location). General access will be allowed on race day with proper ID and vehicle registration/ insurance. Please obey all traffic laws. Distances Swim: 500 yards (10 laps), Bike: 8 miles, Run: 3.1 miles Swim guidelines: Your number will be drawn on your arm and leg prior to you entering the pool. When your number is ready for start, line up in the pool area. A volunteer will direct you to an available lane to start the race. Two people will share a lane for this event. No circle swim. Just up and back and stay on your side of the lane. No flips– just touch and go at the end. A lap counter will be provided for each swimmer but you are also responsible for knowing how many laps you have swam. Lap counters will indicate when you are on your last lap. No flotation devices, fins, paddles or other propulsion devices are allowed. You may use goggles. Swim caps are optional. Long hair must be restrained. Bike guidelines: Bike drop-off will be the morning of the race from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at the Ft. Greely Fitness Center. You must wear an ANSI or SNELL approved helmet with chin strap buckled at all times while on the bike. This pertains to warming up also. You are responsible for knowing the bike course. We will mark the course clearly with cones, signs, etc. You must obey all traffic laws. This is not a closed course. You will be sharing the road with the normal flow of traffic. Ride smart and pay attention. Stay as far to the right on the road as practical. No drafting is allowed. You must stay at least 10 meters (30 feet) behind the bike in front of you. When passing, move to the left when you get within 30 feet, then pass safely. No riding two abreast. You are solely responsible for ensuring your bike is in safe mechanical condition. Your race number should be clearly visible. Be ready to shout out your race number to timers if asked at the bike/run transition so we can accurately log your split. Run guidelines: Your race number must be worn on the front of your body where it is clearly visible. Be careful on the run areas where large rocks, tree roots and ruts are visible. The course will be clearly marked. Water will be available at bike/run transition. Race results: We will do our best to have complete and accurate race results as soon as possible. Please report any questions, concerns, or possible errors. Awards are given to the top 3 male and female finishers. Refund policy: Planning and developing an athletic event that ensures adequate support and supplies for participants is difficult. We rely on the registration information to provide us with an accurate participant count. Because this is vital to the success of the event, there will be no refunds issued once a registration has been processed, with the exception of personal injury (doctor note required) or a death in the family.
