Sign up today in the coat room. THOUGHTS FROM BRAD … BITS FROM BRO. DAVE This Wednesday, December 10th, we will host a “Chili & Comedy” night in the fellowship hall. The meal will begin at 5:15. In addition to the Chili, we will also provide spaghetti noodles and cheese for your enjoyment. If you would like to bring your own chili to share, please let me know today. I already know one person is bringing a crock of “jalapeno chili.” Yummy! Don’t worry, the chili I fix will not be too spicy. After dinner, you can either go to your normal class or hang out in the basement as we enjoy the comedic musical talent of Tim Hawkins. KEENAGERS’ LUNCH: This is a final reminder to those who have signed up for our lunch on Thursday, December 11. Lunch will be served at 12:01pm. This will be our final event for 2014 and my final event as Associate Minister (Seniors). Josh Czich will present a brief demonstration on “self-defense for seniors”, we will reminisce a bit about the past seven years and make a decision about some funds on hand. It has been said, “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way.” Today you vote on leaders who will serve at Fifth Avenue. I want to thank these men for THEIR WILLINGNESS TO SERVE as we seek to do Kingdom work together. May we have a great year and may we have a vision for great things to come in this place and beyond. For those who are in our “Respectable Sins” study, our last class will be December 17th. We will discuss chapters 13, 17, 18, and 19. This will be the last Wednesday night study of the year so I do hope you can make it. As for winter 2015, we will begin advertising soon as to our new elective for Wednesday evenings. Today I want to take a minute to speak to the unrest that is going on in our great country. In my opinion, our nation has become more divided in the last six years than any other time during my lifetime. These are difficult days. We have continued illegal immigration aggravation, racial tension and divide, and economic downturn. Globally, there are nations turning against other nations and there is increased terror and persecution against Christianity. Let me just say, “I am glad this world is not our home and that we are just passing through.” Let’s try to remember that this is a season where PEACE is celebrated because of the baby Jesus, who “grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.” Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27). God is still in control! In His Service, Brad WEDNESDAY BIBLE STUDY: We have now completed our study on Old Testament History. This week, December 10, we will launch a two-part study of Paul’s letter to Titus. Why not join us for the 10:00am or 6:30pm session? FINAL THOUGHT: Drive carefully! Remember: It’s not only the car that can be recalled by its maker. The entire congregation is invited to participate in the ordination service of Joe Hoagland on Sunday, December 14th, at 6:00 p.m. here at the church. Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are: Christ-Centered Worship ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through gracebased preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16). Church Health and Biblical Balance Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8) ________________________________________ Global Evangelism ________________________________________ We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and SoonComing King (Acts 20:27). ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ Fellowship and Ministry After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world. __________________________________ How Can I Respond Today? At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that God’s Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian.  Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation.  Turn (repent) from the sin in your life.  Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life.  Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member. If you would like to take a Curious class, please indicate this on your Silent Roll Call Card. Discipleship We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions. Social Conscience We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16). OUR PURPOSE WE EXIST TO …     Exalt God’s Greatness; Evangelize God’s Work Equip God’s People Express God’s Love through Jesus Christ OUR MISSION “To Love God and Love People!”
