Chapter 2Typical bearing materials Many kinds of bearing materials with a variety of the characteristics listed in tables 3-1 and 3-2 have been developed for individual applications and purposes. 1 Characteristics of bearing materials Figure 3-2 shows a comparison of bearing material characteristics. Nine representative materials were selected and each characteristic evaluated, taking the highest rank to be five points.
