Computer Science (4 th Semester Cont.)  CGPA: 3.42 / 4.00  Main focus of studies is Cloud Computing, Secure Software Development, Digital Forensics, and Computer Security. Graduation: University of Gujrat.  B.S. Information Technology  CGPA: 3.51 / 4.00  Main focus of studies was Networking, Network Security, Software Engineering, and Database Systems and Administration. HSC: F.G. Inter College, Jhelum Cantt.  Group: Pre-Engineering  Score: 694 / 1100  Main courses were Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. SSC: Govt. Comprehensive High School, Jhelum.  Group: Science  Score: 644 / 850  Main courses studied include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science. 11/2014 - 09/2016 2010 - 2014 2007 - 2009 2005 - 2007 ACADEMIC PROJECTS AND ASSISTANCESHIP Teacher Assistant to Head of Department  During my undergrad’s 4 th year, I volunteered as Teacher Assistant to the Head of Department of Computing and Information Technology. I taught two courses to students during the tenure:  Introduction to Programming Fundamentals using C  Introduction to Databases with MS Access.  In the same year I designed and graded a number of examination papers for the Enterprise Application Development course for 3 rd year students. Network Traffic Monitoring in a Software-Defined Networking Environment  SDN environment was simulated and analyzed to monitor the traffic pattern of packets flowing through the controller node. Since the controller node has the access to all the switches, the traffic between the switche s and the hosts could also be monitored. The northbound and the southbound APIs calls were monitored in depth.  Implemented through MiniNet Simulation environment on Linux for creating a virtual SDN environment, WireShark for monitoring the network packet flows and OpenDayLight as the controller’s Network Operating System . Android Based Home Automation System  The project’s aim was to use an open source microcontroller, i.e. Arduino, to regulate home appliances through android enabled device over the internet without acquiring static IP address for the home server. Illustrated the vulnerabilities in the authentication mechanism and suggested future directions for further enhancements, e.g. making it a 2-tier system from 3-tier architecture, using encryption algorithm for scrambling user credentials , etc.  Implemented using Arduino’s SDK, Java’s JDK and Android’s ADK. Voucher Management System  The Project’s goal was to manage the daily needs of record keeping in a cigarette distribution company located at Jhelum. The old manual system of storing data in MS Excel was cumbersome, we created a database to store the dat a as was being stored in Excel sheets and provided user friendly interfaces for interaction with the database.  Implemented using MS SQL Server as database management system and Windows GUI forms through C#. NT File System Digital Forensics Investigations  In this project a USB flash drive was zero-filled of word document and pdf files were stored in flash drive were captured through two different Digital Forensics Investigation techniques were without using OS system calls.  Implemented using dd utility on Linux, FTK Imager and ProDiscover Basic on Windows as Digital Forensics imaging tools, lowvel tool for zero -filling, hex editor on Linux and Active@ disk editor on Windows for analysis of captured images, and diskpart utility on Windows for write-protecting the USB flash drive. and formatted to NTFS. A bunch it and two images of same USB Digital Forensics imaging tools. then applied to recover the files AWARDS & PARTCIPATIONS Seminar, Nov 2015 Leadership Skills by CEO Nayatel, Mr. Wahaj Siraj Held at Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Islamabad, Pakistan. Merit Laptop Award, 2012 Shahbaz Shrif’s Youth Initiative Programme Award for Academic Excellence Govt. Postgraduate College, Jhelum, Pakistan. RESEARCH INTERESTS Cloud Computing, Federated Identity Management, Security and Privacy concerns in Cloud Computing, Distributed Computing, Secure Software Development THESES  Abdullah Javed, Federated Identity Management in Secure Interacting Clouds , M.S. (Computer Science) thesis, Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Islamabad, Pakistan, 2016.   The aim of this thesis is to find ways to make interaction between clouds more secure. Access management support in OpenStack middleware makes it possible to implement various features of FIM. Different implementations of FIMs are to be compared to judge the impact of each implementation. As a proof of concept two OpenStack systems running on different systems will be interacted and examined for any lapse in identity management. Abdullah Javed, Android based Home Automation System, B.S. (Information Technology) thesis, University of Gujrat, Pakistan, 2014.  Home automation technologies enable the disabled and handicapped people to perform the routine tasks from a centralized location and that too on their android enabled handheld devices. The thesis aimed at pointing out some subtle lack of features in existing technologies, e.g. using internet connection from the telecom service provider in absence of a localized wireless transmitter/receiver. A novel approach for connecting the android app with the home automation server wa s proposed. Security threats and vulnerabilities in the exiting implementations were identified. Future directions were listed to improve the authentication mechanism for the client application as well as for the appliances wanting to connect to the system. Processing speed and architectural improvements were also suggested. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Programming Languages  C, C++, C#, Java, Python, Android, XML, HTML, CSS, SQL, JavaScript, PHP, Windows Batch Programming, Linux Shell Programming Platforms  Proficient in: Windows, Ubuntu Linux, Kali Linux, Mac OS, Android  Familiar with: Arch Linux, OpenSuse, RedHat Enterprise Linux Softwares     Database  MS SQL Server: used as the backend DBMS for college’s website and other projects  Oracle Database: used in the projects of Database Administration course  MS Access: taught to the junior classes with hands -on practical labs  MySQL: used in a packaged form with other tools i.e. XAMP.
