If not already available in the catalogue, AgustaWestland can develop multimedia material for special or optional helicopter kits when a customer requests it. System Description: Precision Teaching is a behavioural method of learning aimed at increasing fluency. In Precision Teaching, fluency means being able to carry out tasks correctly and quickly. This contrasts with traditional teaching methods that tend to concentrate solely on accuracy without considering speed. AgustaWestland is applying Precision Teaching methodology, to the creation of new training aids aimed at providing pilots and aircrew with very high levels of confidence in the use of their controls and displays. Training tasks covered by these systems include: Helicopter cockpit familiarization, by acquiring detailed knowledge of the location and purpose of all the controls and displays in the cockpit (instrument panel, overhead console and interseat console); Multi Function Display familiarization, by understanding the meaning of the displayed data (including symbols and digital data) and interacting intuitively with the appropriate data using the control menu systems; Gaining full confidence with normal and emergency procedures, to the point where correct actions are taken under pressure to recover the situation in the minimum time required. Precision Teaching includes student self assessment, using E-Learning technology, typically using a PC with dedicated software. Here, the student is asked a large number of questions regarding the current subject in a very short time (up to 40 questions per minute or more). The Trainee is asked to respond to the questions immediately, receiving instantaneous feedback (right or wrong). At the end of each session, trainees’ results are displayed on a Celeration Chart that allows easy interpretation of its performance. Trainees repeat the Precision Teaching assessment until they get the answers 100% correct, before moving to the next topic. The Trainee will take a Precision Teaching self assessment session for no more than 10 minutes in a day. A Complementary Tutoring Service is also offered to monitor the performance of the students in their daily activity and to motivate them. CAT120430 AW139 AW139 Virtual Maintenance Trainer (VMT) Helicopter Types: AW139 4 Helicopter Configuration: The system covers the basic configuration of the helicopter. If not already available in the catalogue, AgustaWestland can also develop systems for special or optional helicopter kits when a customer requests it. System Description: Simulation has a valuable and effective role in maintenance training. The VMT is based on an emulation approach for maintenance training that supports maintenance technicians in developing the knowledge and skills required to maintain helicopter via the correct application of maintenance procedures and in troubleshooting analysis to correctly diagnose faults. The VMT provides a complete and flexible training environment. The instructor can set up and activate emulated fault conditions. Fault conditions can be investigated and solved by the student which prevents wasting trainee time doing and repeating low-value tasks (i.e. unscrew bolts to open panels, etc.) and focusing his efforts on more important and useful activities. The VMT utilizes advanced graphical visualization techniques to simulate, in a virtual environment helicopter systems and related maintenance operations. The VMT is a suite of basic functions that are, in a fully interactive 3D environment, tailored for: practicing maintenance procedures; troubleshooting and fault isolation procedures. The VMT reproduces an interactive training scenario for maintenance technicians on three screens. It operates in a classroom networked environment that has one (1) Instructor Operating Station (IOS) and two (2) Trainee Stations (TS). The IOS communicates with the TS using a local network that will be made available by the customer. The IOS has the same configuration as the TS, but is uploaded with additional software modules to monitor, control and give correct feedbacks to the trainee. Main Advantages: The VMT provides students with maintenance familiarization and practice. The helicopter cockpit equipment location, systems and components are faithfully reproduced in a graphical approach to gain a consolidated understanding of system maintenance procedures and troubleshooting procedures. Target Population: Maintenance Technicians. 4 Long nose, 4 axis autopilot.
