Description

Carter Ground Fueling DivisionArgo-Tech Corporation - Costa Mesa HOSE END CONTROL VALVES MODELS 60129-1, 44646 & 47013 The Carter Hose End Control Valves (HECV’s) provide pressure limitation at the outlet to protect the aircraft while refueling. Three different pressure settings are available to tailor the control system to the customer’s requirements. The resultant control pressure curve is flat with little “droop” in pressure up to 300 U.S. gpm. Downstream surge pressure generated as a result of a rapid rise in downstream pressure (aircraft valve closure) is limited to 75 psi. Outlets are available to mate the HECV to any Carter or Thiem nozzle. Threaded inlet and outlet adapter fittings are also available for alternative installations away from a nozzle. A variety of inlet fittings are available to mate industry standard hose connections. FEATURES: 60129-1N46H HOSE END CONTROL VALVE For line mounted applications ❏ Lightweight - see Ordering Data for weights. ❏ Low pressure drop - see curve on following page. ❏ Direct Spring acting. ❏ Three pressure settings - 35, 45 & 55 available. ❏ Downstream surge pressure control - 75 psi max. ❏ Fail safe design. ❏ Mates directly to any Carter or Thiem nozzle. ❏ Variety of inlet quick disconnects available to mate industry standard hoses. ❏ Outlet fittings available to offer alternative installations away from nozzles. ❏ 60129-1 replaces 40680 (part number change only). ❏ Mechanical block out device, 61656, for system test and defueling now available - no connection to fuel pressure required. ❏ Over 35,000 HECV’s put into service in the past 24 years, no other unit has been so widely utilized. This unit is designed to be conveniently mounted to any Carter 64348 or 64349 (or older 61428 or 61429) Nozzle. In addition to limiting the maximum pressure at its outlet during flow conditions.45 psi HECV with inlet and outlet to mate 60427 Nozzle.2” NPT EXAMPLES: ❏ 60129-1 HECV . The HECV is designed such that it reacts to changes of outlet pressure to hold a relatively constant pressure with adequate inlet pressure. It has ball swivel joints on both ends. -35. the HECV will simply stroke fully open and there will be no control. 64348 and 64349 for pressure loss data for the various HECV’s when used in conjunction with a nozzle. as indicated above. This HECV has a 6-bolt flanged inlet and a ball joint swivel outlet connection to mate the above nozles. The HECV only controls when the downstream pressure becomes within the range of its control. PRESSURE LOSS DATA Refer to the data in Bulletins 60427. followed by the desired spring setting. ❏ 47013 HECV . ❏ 44646 HECV . or -55. -45. OPERATION A Hose End Control Valve (HECV) is a direct spring loaded piston device that limits pressure sensed at its outlet (hence at the inlet of the nozzle since the HECV is mounted on the inlet to the nozzle). followed by the desired spring setting.PART 4 One of the following letters must be included as Part 4. The curve below reflects typical data for the HECV with no inlet or outlet fittings. If the downstream pressure is too low. 60129-14 . the HECV requires a back pressure (system pressure drop) to perform properly. outlet to mate 60427 Nozzle and inlet with 2½” BSPP QD. (Formerly ordered as 40680-45 or 60129-1-45). ORDER this HECV by the model number. For installation on Carter 64348 or 64349 Nozzles either in conjunction with a Carter 64015 Ball Valve or when a dual HECV installation is desired on a Carter nozzle.3” NPT OPTION LETTER M P DESCRIPTION Inlet thread . -45. The highest pressure limit controlled by the HECV will be apparent as the flow rate decreases from a maximum flow condition and as the aircraft tank valves begin to close. The following characteristics are typical: .For installation on Carter 64348 or 64349 Nozzles. to specify the inlet thread and size: OPTION LETTER H K L DESCRIPTION Inlet thread . 60129-1C56K . As in all controlling devices.2½” BSPP Inlet thread . the HECV is designed to also limit surge pressures caused by aircraft (downstream) valve closures. ORDER this HECV by the model number. Lockup pressure (downstream pressure trapped between a closed HECV and a closed downstream system) is also limited. This is quite apparent at the higher flows into an empty aircraft.
