Release Notes Tribon M3 Basic Design © 1993-2004 Tribon Solutions AB ii Tribon M3 . This update includes the user-defined point given in the plate definition. The plate statement has now become two.Tribon M3 Release Notes Basic Design 1 • New Handling of Seams and Plates Description Previously. quality. If a plate is defined and later on divided by a seam it will become two plates inheriting the attributes (thickness. a simple square panel originally with no seams and one plate defined. For example. When moving seams the system will make sure that the number of plates is correct and that their definition points are updated. If the seam arrangement had to be changed the result could be that the plates had to be deleted and then regenerated. This is now changed to the dependency between the seams and plates being handled automatically by the system. When deleting a seam the plates bounded by that seam will be merged with the corresponding plate on the opposite side of the seam. © 1993-2004 Tribon Solutions AB Now add a seam on Z=500 cutting the existing plate in two. When generating seams the plates will be automatically updated. the seams had to be generated first and then the plates. with points added automatically by the system: Adding another more complex seam along a curve will split the two plates into five plates: Tribon M3 1 . …) from the original plate. the order between the plates and seams in the scheme does not matter. but after storing the panel the seams are placed before the plates in the scheme due to the internal topological sorting. 2 Tribon M3 © 1993-2004 Tribon Solutions AB .Tribon M3 Release Notes Basic Design The scheme now looks like: While generating. • Affected Programs • • Hull Planar Modelling Basic Design Tribon M3 3 . Hull / Planar Modelling / Design Language. • © 1993-2004 Tribon Solutions AB Compatibility Constraints The panel has to be regenerated using the new program version in order for the integrated plate-seam handling to work. • For Further Information See User's Guide.Tribon M3 Release Notes Basic Design • Benefits Automatic definition. deletion and modification of plate geometry when adding. deleting and moving seams. Tribon M3 Release Notes Basic Design 2 • Improvements in RSO . © 1993-2004 Tribon Solutions AB • For Further Information See Hull / Planar Modelling / User's Guide / Interactive Model Functions / RSO. In that process both instances of a symmetrical panel were used.Create Description Previously. a number of panels had to be activated. • Compatibility Constraints None. Now panel instances are picked and highlighted rather than panels. when creating an RSO. However there was no way to pick only one instance from a symmetrical panel. • Affected Programs • • Hull Planar Modelling Basic Design 4 Tribon M3 . • Benefits Improved control of the created RSO when using symmetrical panels. The panel location is updated only if the non-reflected panel instance is included in the RSO. In the dialog the string "(reflected)" after the panel name indicates a reflected panel instance. if the panel was not located parallel to CL. The activated panels were the ones to form the RSO. or three points.Delete Description Previously when deleting an RSO. the location of the panels referred from the RSO was not changed even if it was depending on the RSO. Now the panels are updated provided that they are referred from the RSO and that their location is defined by the RSO. © 1993-2004 Tribon Solutions AB • For Further Information See Hull / Planar Modelling / User's Guide / Interactive Model Functions / RSO. The new location will be derived from the panel plane and will be either a position along one of the principal axes. • Compatibility Constraints None. • Affected Programs • • Hull Planar Modelling Basic Design Tribon M3 5 . • Benefits Panels with location by an RSO are automatically updated when deleting the RSO. This was then up to the user to change if the RSO was permanently deleted and not created again.Tribon M3 Release Notes Basic Design 3 • Improvements in RSO . The geometry of the RSO will then be adapted to the panel boundaries. • Affected Programs • • Hull Planar Modelling Basic Design 6 Tribon M3 .ReCreate Description A new function. © 1993-2004 Tribon Solutions AB • Compatibility Constraints None. It is intended to be used when the panels forming an RSO has changed in shape. It is necessary that the panels are noted in the RSO as they would be for example if the RSO was once created from the panels and the panel location was then updated to refer the RSO. has been added to the RSO sub-menu.Tribon M3 Release Notes Basic Design 4 • New Function RSO . • For Further Information See Hull / Planar Modelling / User's Guide / Interactive Model Functions / RSO. ReCreate. Otherwise the RSO cannot be recreated. • Benefits Easier to recreate an existing RSO from the referred panels. By picking the RSO the same dialog will appear as in the Create function listing the referred panels. Previously this had to be done via the Create function manually picking all the panels to form the RSO. © 1993-2004 Tribon Solutions AB • Benefits More stable references when using RSOs instead of panels. So an RSO can be for panels something like what a longitudinal position can be for stiffeners. ‘flange end against stiffener’ and ‘seam for panel’ can use RSO reference. such as moving boundaries between panels. also ‘pillar end against plate surface’. • Affected Programs • • Hull Planar Modelling Basic Design Tribon M3 7 . the reference can be made via the RSO instead. The RSO reference above can be used when defining a boundary.Tribon M3 Release Notes Basic Design 5 • Referring RSO’s in Panel Generation Description The modelling of planar panels is to a large extent built on references to the surrounding structure. if substantial modifications are made to the referred panels. If a stiffener is referred via RSO it has to be via SF or SL terms.LOC='<RSO name>'. The RSO is supposed to cover for example a whole deck and will be unaffected by the panel subdivision. Many of these references are to the plate surface of panels intersecting the plane of the modelled panel or to stiffeners on such panels. • For Further Information See Hull / Planar Modelling / User's Guide / Design Language. the references may become invalid. when connecting stiffeners or brackets to intersecting stiffeners or to a plate surface. If such a reference is made to a panel that is positioned by an RSO (…. Finally.…). when setting cutouts for stiffeners. This is similar to the use of SF and SL terms inside a panel to make the stiffener references stable. • Compatibility Constraints None. However. Also the RSO can be used when defining topological points and fillet curves in the situations mentioned above. One way to overcome this and make the reference more stable is to refer an RSO containing these panels rather than the panels themselves. A number of offset values can be chosen from a drop-down list. The values in the list originate from the connection code setup (SBH_CONCODES). Picking e. Starboard. Also the blocks can use RSOs to defined its extension. Forward. Unlike the planes and RSO is limited in space. cutting the panel in two. • For Further Information Tribon M3 Basic Design/ Application Guide .. • Compatibility Constraints None. the box is used initially but then also a check is done against the optional RSO.Tribon M3 Release Notes Basic Design 6 • Block Division news Description From Tribon M3 Reference Surfaces (RSOs) can be used both to cut the panels in the block to split and as block boundaries. The user interface now also contains a dialog collecting what was previously a numer of questions. The RSO will be used a s part of the definition of the boundaries of the two new panels. Picking -200 will cut the stiffeners 200 mm from the plate edge in the opposite direction. 200 will make the sitffeners be cut 200 mm from the plate edge in the direction of the normal vector of the plane (normally in the direction of a principal axis). When selecting the cutting objects RSOs can now also be selected. A stiffener offset can be defined. Apart from the limiting box an RSO can be assigned to eahc of the six limits (Aft. • Benefits RSOs can be used in Block Division. All matching pairs of gap/ overlap from connection codes of type 4 ( profile end/ profile end) will be included. © 1993-2004 Tribon Solutions AB In this dialog also an option is added to define stiffener offsets (shift) around the cutting plane. Portside. Also a stiffener offset can be defined. By using RSOs the panels can be cut by complex shapes./ Block/ Divide • Affected Programs Basic Design 8 Tribon M3 . Top and Bottom) as a refinement.g. When comparing a panel against the block in the Block Division process.. In order for an RSO to cut a panel it must intersect the panel boundary twice.
