It is written in a Preserved Book ( Al Lawh Al Mahfooth). • Neither humankind nor Jinn can produce a chapter that resembles it because it is an eternal miracle and proof. Anyone can memorize it. It is protected from falsehood and corruption by Allaah Himself. and recited. be they young or old. • It is not boring to read or recite repeatedly and each time one reads it. • Scholars can never have enough pondering over it. . educating themselves from it or learning more of its meanings. The Prophet said: “The best amongst you are those who learn the Quran and teach it to others. It has a nice smell and a sweet taste. It is protected from falsehood and corruption by Allaah Himself. but all through our lives.T he Quran is the Word of Allaah that cannot be likened to any other words. not just in Ramadhaan. [O Muhammad].”} [Quran 38: 29] The Prophet said: “He who recites or reads a letter from the Book of Allaah gets a reward and the reward is multiplied by ten.” [Al-Bukhaari]. Alif is a letter. It is written in a Preserved Book ( Al Lawh Al Mahfooth). It is easy to learn and is often contemplated. Laam is a letter and Meem is a letter. which has no smell but tastes sweet. I don’t mean ‘Alif Laam Meem’ is a letter. rather. then is there any that will remember?”} [Quran 54: 17] Allaah Says (what means): {“[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you. and recited. The example of the hypocrite who does not read the Quran is like the Hanthalah (colocynth) which does not have any smell and it tastes bitter” [Al-Bukhaari and Muslim] We ask Allaah to enable us to be included in the ranks of the people of the Quran. The example of the believer who does not read or recite the Quran is like a date. The example of a hypocrite who reads the Quran is like the Rayhannah.” [At-Tirmithi] Allaah granted a special elevated position to those who memorize and work according to it. memorized. it smells nice but it tastes bitter. that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded. Finally. headache. and over eating are all bad habits that we have throughout the entire year and that may continue with us in Ramadhaan. we forget that these bad habits are the key factors behind our poor performance and lack of energy during the daytime in Ramadhaan. smoking. However.net Laziness. but now we should want to learn how to also prepare ourselves physically to receive this blessed month healthily and vividly through releasing our bodies and all of its systems from the burden of the bad habits that we became accustomed to throughout the year. I remind you that strong determination and willpower are the essence of success and change. . Make your daily food habits similar to those of Ramadhaan. This should train your stomach to start working later and not to feel so hungry or thirsty during the early daytime in Ramadhaan. this will slowly decrease the amount of caffeine in your blood. it should be at least one hour before sleeping. baklava. Complete your worship in Ramadhaan and if you are a smoker. For instance. . more beneficial. give up smoking for Allaah’s sake. you will avoid a sudden decrease in caffeine while fasting. and fatty and fried foods. even if you are not going to then fast. Do not forget fruits and dairy products. which would adversely affect your mood and cause headache and tension. And accustom yourself to drinking some warm soup before the main meal or have some other light food before going to perform the Maghrib prayer.BASEERA MAGAzINE RamaDhaan Issue I 18 Useful Tips for Good Health in Ramadhaan B efore the coming of Ramadhaan. olives and sweets such as Kunafah. however. and eat vegetables to facilitate digestion. Have a spoonful of honey in the Suhoor meal because it is the only sugary substance that increases blood sugar levels gradually and helps you withstand hunger during the day. and fast a number of days during the month of Sha'baan. This prepares the stomach to receive food and to start secreting the gastric acids needed to do its job well. Do not start your day by drinking stimulants such as tea. try to have a light meal before the Fajr prayer. try to replace this beverage with another. one. This lessens the shock of large quantities of food after a long fast. Also be keen to eat legumes. reduce this to two and then one during the month of Sha'baan. because they maintain the glucose in the blood for a long period of time and this helps you finish your day with more liveliness and activity. Avoid preserves and salty foods in the Suhoor meal such as pickles. Drink water after the Suhoor meal moderately and especially in summer. but replace them with beneficial drinks like anise and roselle tea. to prepare your digestive system for the eating system of the month of Ramadhaan. Make sure that you sleep at least 7 hours per day because it is scientifically proven that those who suffer from bad temper and bad physical performance sleep less than 5 hours. Beware of eating and drinking excessively during the month of Ramadhaan. . The Prophet used to lead the prayer in Madeenah himself. he nominated Umar as his successor. nominated him as the head of the community and he was appointed Caliph (the successor of the Prophet) by the people’s consent. to lead the Hajj. and refused to comply with Islamic injunctions such as Zakaat (obligatory charity) and Jihad. had named him Abdul Ka’bah. the Muslim army saw several victories and Al-Hira in Persia was conquered in 633 C. The Prophet asked him whether he had anything left for his family.
