This usually occurs when the devices are connected to equipment in different locations. In order to correct this problem, the grounding on the audio lines needs to be de-coupled. The AGDC-2 is an Audio line level de-coupler. It completely electrically isolates (both signal and ground) the input source from the destination, thus eliminating the coupling which causes AC hum on sound systems. The AGDC-2 is a two channel unit which can be used for stereo or two fully independent sources. Inputs and outputs are 1/4" TRS Phone jacks. They will accept either balanced or unbalanced connections. They will even convert from one to the other. For example, you can connect a unbalanced CD player output to balanced line input on a mixer using these units. Typical applications include: - Computer feeding video to projector and audio to mixer - DVD player feeding video to projector and audio to mixer - Mixer feeding audio to DVD recorder - Equipment connected to mixer, located elsewhere (musical instrument, Computer etc.) - Mixer output to remotely located amplifiers - Mixer output to powered monitor speakers If you plug in a TRS cable, you can get a balanced connection. If you plug in a 2 conductor phone cable you will get unbalanced. The AGDC is a top quality unit using Neutrik connectors. The electronics are housed inside a heavy steel chassis to provide the best protection against Electromagnetic Interference. Although the inputs and outputs are bidirectional, output 1 is grounded to the chassis. This provides better Radio Frequency Interference rejection. If you are only using one channel, use channel 1. For best performance, consider the following tips: 1) If you are feeding sound into the mixer, such as playback from a CD player or computer, connect the source to the Inputs of the AGDC-2 and the Outputs from the AGDC-2 to the Line Inputs on the mixer. 2) If you are feeding sound out of the mixer into a recording device or amplifier, connect the unit backwards. In other words, connect the mixer outputs to the AGDC-2 outputs and feed from the AGDC-2 Inputs to the recorder or amplifier inputs. 3) Although the AGDC-2 is shielded for RFI and EMI, do not locate it close to EMI generating sources, such as AC transfromers in plug in power supplies (wall-wharts). alectro.
