Hicks Teaching Language Arts to Children Dr.Li April 20, 2014 Date 2/19/14 Times 8:00-9:15 Purpose of Visit Observation of teacher, classroom, and students Description of Visit Today was my first day at Brookdale. I basically just observed the class taking their benchmark test. 2/21/14 8:45-9:45 Observation of teacher, classroom, and students The class was still taking their benchmark test so once again I just observed them testing. 2/24/14 9:59-2:00 Assist the students as they worked on reviewing for an upcoming test. I helped the students as they did workbook activities that were assigned to them by their teacher (Mrs. Berry) in order to assist them in doing well on their upcoming test. 2/26/14 10:00-2:00 Assist the students I assisted the students Danielle C. These phrases are called Hook’em Dannos, the catchy phrase was made to grab the students attention. 3/3/14 10:00-2:00 Observe the students learning a math lesson. I observed the students in Mr. Burgess class being taught an introductory lesson about comparing decimals. If they had any questions they were able to ask me for assistance in helping them learn the new Danielle C. The students were being taught a science lesson in Mr.Burgess class that was teaching the about solids, liquids and gasses. The students seemed to be very involved in the lesson and they were able to ask me for assistance if it was necessary. 3/17/14 10:00-2:00 Assist the students with their writing strategies. Today the students had to complete a writing activity which was given to them by the teacher (Mrs. Berry). They could choose one of the three writing prompts Danielle C. The class seemed very attentive and alert throughout the lesson. 3/24/14 10:00-2:00 Observe a math review I observed the class as they were reviewing about decimals. 3/26/14 10:00-2:00 Teach a math lesson I taught the class a math lesson the reinforced and reviewed a comparing and ordering decimals. The class seemed to enjoy the lesson and I think that they learned a lot. 3/27/14 11:10-12:13 Teach a science I taught the lass a Danielle C. The class seemed to be actively engaged and they seemed to enjoy the lesson. 3/31/14 10:00-2:00 Assist the teacher I assisted the teacher n grading the students quizzes 4/2/14 10:00-2:00 Observe a lesson I observed Mrs. Berry as she taught the class a lesson to help them in the areas that they were struggling in with their writing. 4/4/14 12:16-2:11 Teach science lesson I taught the class an inquiry based science lesson that was about the rate of dissolving. They class was very involved in the lesson
