Department of English English being a compulsory subject the Department was established in 1963 with the college itself. Mr. V.R. Raut worked as the first Head of the Dept. of English. He worked from 17-06-1968 to 31-08-1987. After his retirement Mr. V. S. Bedre worked as the Head of the Dept during 01-09-1987 to 30-09-2003. Since then Dr. A.V.Kulkarni has been working as the Head, Dept. of English. Presently English Dept. is the largest Dept. in the college having more than 2057 students in Arts, Commerce, Science & Home Science Faculties. The Dept. has been running the courses like B.A., B. Com., B.Sc., M.A. (English) and Certificate course, Diploma Course and Advance Diploma Course in Functional English. In last year we have fulfilled the requirements recommended by Reaccreditation Peer Team, New Delhi by Establishing Advance Language Laboratory and well-equipped E-Seminar Hall in the Dept. All these facilities are availed by students of all the Faculties and by all Teaching and Non-teaching staff of the college. Presently Eight Faculty members are working in the Dept. Department of Home Science The department Of Home science emerged as an individual faculty in the year 1978. Previously Home science was one of the subject of the Arts faculty and the department was a part of Social Science. Further the Masters Degree was introduced in 1983 with two post graduate courses in 1.Textile and Clothing & 2.Human Development. The infrastructure of the department wasset in an area of approximately 193.63sq meter In the year 1978. Further it was extended up to 289.43sq meter in 2003. Now the department has a spacious area of 322.15 Sq meter with all the laboratories and a staff room. Vacational courses in M.Phil counducted by Amravati University were organized by the department from 1986 to 87 for three years. Short Term courses were under taken in 2003- 04, at minimum charges. Carrier oriented program in Fashion designing is carried out from 2006 until today. The laboratory is recognized for under taking research leading to Ph.D. Two staff members are recognized Supervisor as well as Referees in SGBAU,Amravati and RSTMNU,Nagpur. All most all the faculty members have been awarded Ph.D. except one who is on the verge of completion. The staff is actively involved in research activities and all have worked on research project, presented and published research papers on National and International levels. The department has organized various workshops, seminars, and conferences among which a Vidharba level conference was hosted in 1991 and Mahila Pradhyapak Parishad in 2003.The Home Science Association was established on 28th Dec 1992. The poor and needy have been benefited from these services. The staff has a history of membership in University Bodies such as BOS, BOE, Academic Council, Subject expert, 32(5), 64, syllabus restructuring in SGBAU ,Amravati and RSTMNU Nagpur. Dr. Rekha Lande is elected as a Dean of the Faculty of Home Science in Jan 2013. And the year 2012-13 has witnessed the Head of the Department being elected as the Dean of Home Science Faculty of SGBAU, Amravati. Department of Physics Physics department was established in the year 1967. Post-graduation in Physics was started in 1993 on permanent no grant basis and affiliated to SGB Amravati University, Amravati. The students of this department are well placed in the private as well as govt. sector. Four Minor Research Projects have been successfully completed from the department. The department has modern equipment for experiments and a good core library consisting of about 250 titles and more than 100 e-books. The department has got the broadband connectivity.
