Description

Development of a TRIZ ToolIvan Aparicio Expanding Design Creativity: Accessing the world wide web of inspiration through TRIZ TRIZ • The theory of inventive problem solving Developed by Genrich Altshuller beginning in 1946. Altshuller and his team put 1500 manhours into analysing over 2 million patents. TRIZ • Principal Axiom: o “The evolution of all technical systems is governed by objective laws.” • Also: o There are only about 1500 basic types of problem, and they can be solved through the combination of 40 inventive principles. TRIZ TRIZ TRIZ TRIZ TRIZ User Expertise TRIZ TRIZ • TRIZ doesn‟t „close the circle‟. • The problem solving process is heavily reliant on the expertise of the thinker (especially for very technical problems). User Expertise TRIZ • Remembering the Axiom: o There are only about 1500 basic types of problem, and they can be solved through the combination of 40 inventive principles. • Corollary: o “Somebody someplace has already solved this problem (or one very similar to it).” o If somebody has done it, it is probably somewhere on the internet. Search Engine • A gateway into a boundless source of information. • Engineered to retrieve information according to specifications of the user. Search Engine Search Engine Processed Inverted Query Search & File Query Processor User Expertise Match Document Processor Query WWW Relevant Web Content • Patents • Effects – Journals on Emerging developments • Wiki • Ultimately: Formation of specialised databases intended for the purpose Project Design Brief of a TRIZ based Problem Solving Search Engine.
