The Socialist republic of Viet NamMinistry of natural resources and environment NATIONAL HYDRO-METEOROLOGICAL SERVICE Workshop of Advisers on External Relations AND FIELD STUDY for RA II/ V (Asia and south-westpacific) 28 April to 2 May, Jeju/Seoul, Republic of Korea introduction • In 1945, President Ho Chi Minh signed the Resolution to establish Meteorological Agency. • In 1976, the Hydro-Meteorological Service (HMS) of Viet Nam was officially established in basis of corporation of Meteorological Agency and Department of Hydrology from the Ministry of Water Resources. • In August 2002, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) was established. Since then, the National HydroMeteorological Service (NHMS) has been an institutional organization under MONRE and responsible for most functions and tasks of the former HMS. The system of hydro-meteorological forecasts includes three levels: Central level realized by Central Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasts Regional level realized by Regional HydroMeteorological Forecasts Centers Provincial level realized by Provincial HydroMeteorological Forecast Centers Forecasting system Central Hydro-Mete.
